Digital storage is the technology used to save data, instructions, and information so they can be used later. In simple terms, it is the place where a computer, phone, or other device keeps files such as documents, pictures, videos, apps, and system data.
There are two types:
1. Temporary storage
This stores data only while the device is on. Example: RAM. When the power is turned off, the data is lost.
2. Permanent storage
This keeps data even when the device is turned off. Examples include:
- hard disk drive (HDD)
- solid-state drive (SSD)
- USB flash drive
- memory card
- cloud storage
